FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Is there a limit on the number of free therapy sessions I can get?
A: Yes, the number of free therapy sessions will be capped at 5 per person at the beginning of the project. Our mental health partners InnerHour will notify you in case additional sessions become available, but once each student is done with their 5 sessions, our first priority will be to get sessions to as many new people as possible.
Q: What do I have to do to get free therapy?
A: To be eligible for The Yuvaa Therapy Project, you must be of or above the age of 18 years, and a graduate of the batch of 2020. Once you fill in the interest form, our mental health partner InnerHour will get in touch with you for a screening process based on their guidelines. If you clear that process, they will allot you a therapist from their trusted network, and slot sessions with you. This entire process will take place on a first come first serve basis as we have limited slots.
Q: Will these be physical therapy sessions?
A: Due to the pandemic, these sessions will take place over video conferencing.
Q: Can I get therapy if I didn’t graduate in 2020?
A: Unfortunately, no. This project is exclusively for the batch of 2020 and hence part of the screening process will be to ensure that only students who graduated this year with valid ID proof will get access to therapy sessions under this project.
Q: Is this a suicide prevention helpline?
A: No, this isn’t designed to help people having strong suicidal urges and will not operate as a helpline. The objective of this project is to provide virtual talk-therapy sessions, and it cannot be used in lieu of a suicide prevention helpline. If you’re having suicidal thoughts, we strongly recommend talking to someone close to you about them, or reaching out to a helpline like iCall (+91 9152987821)
Q: Should I sign up for this if I have a pre-diagnosed psychological condition?
A: Since the Yuvaa Therapy Project consists of a capped number of sessions over video conference, it is not suitable to treat certain pre-diagnosed disorders or conditions. Our mental health partners InnerHour will be conducting an assessment process before therapy sessions are slotted to determine if these sessions will be beneficial, depending on your psychological profile.
Q: What if I don’t like the therapist allotted to me?
A: Our mental health partners InnerHour has a network of trusted therapists all over the country. However, in case there are any complaints or problems, they do have an internal grievance redressal mechanism that they will inform you about before the therapy sessions begin. In case of any grievances, they will guide you on how to go about it.
